Importance or Significance of Scientific Management Theory
The importance of scientific management is also known as the significance of scientific management. So, the points are as follows:-
1. Quality Management:
In an organizational or managerial world, this theory gains very much popularity in both business and non-business organizations. It helps to identify or introduce better criteria of management through various scientific management techniques such as work-study, time study, incentive plans, entertainment facilities, and so on.
2. Proper allocation of resources:
Scientific management teaches how to remove wasteful items, times, and motions in executing various activities. It helps to introduced motion and time study to do work properly in an accurate manner and try to achieve organizational goals. He analyzes workers capacity and provided a fair wage according to their work.
3. Scientific approach:
It focused on scientific education, development, and selection of executives or workers so that problem-solving is not based on random decision making. It recommends selection on the basis of job requirements.
This theory is totally focused on the process of better specialization i.e., select the right person for the right job or right place. They also provide training facilities so that the employees can innovate or develop or innovate yourself.
4. Work Specialization:
In this importance of scientific management, the employees help to identify the planning and execute them in an accurate manner. An individual responsible for all business activities so that they can do a proper plan and their execution. They also can issue the instructions in their departmental specialized areas.
5. Mental Rotation:
This theory of management also helps to advocate the essence of mental resolution on the part of both employees and employers. This theory of revolution changes the working attitude of management and workers towards their work.
If an organization wants to achieve better results, high profits, high wages, and high salary, then it will have to make better management and utilize their resources in an effective manner. Therefore, these results help to improve the economic performance of both workers and their management.
7. Proportional Relationships:
The proportional relationship is also known as a harmonious relationship. It means when all members of an organization such as their management and workers have co-operated with each other, then the results are to make a harmonious relationship.
It helps to reduce conflicts between the members of an organization and helps to a better unity of the team.
8. The improved living of standards:
In an organization, if the wages, salaries, and economic performance of employees will improve, then the living standards of an individual will automatically improve.
9. Industrial profitability:
High profits, productivity, and wages promote industrial peace of effectiveness. Through this point, the company can improve our market standards in organizational or international markets.
10. Provide job satisfaction:
In this last point, the organizations focused on their several scientific methods such as wage systems, analysis of costs, production planning and analysis, and rest approach systems, etc. are used to advertise or promote job satisfaction level amongst workers.
Disadvantages or Limitations of Scientific Management Theory

The disadvantages of scientific management are also known as limitations of scientific management. So, it includes various arguments against the theory:-
1. Over-state on economic needs:
The main motive of scientific management or Taylor is to focus on the economic and physical needs of workers. He helps to build a balance between their social and ego needs so that they can affect their behavior.
2. Loss of jobs:
In this limitations of scientific management, the theory determined by the workers and labor, whose main importance is to increase the production capacity and reduce the workforce. Workers believe that if he adopts Taylor’s scientific methods he will lose his jobs.
So, that is the reason, this point is considered as the main disadvantage.
3. Discrimination between workers:
In an organization, the wage system of efficient and inefficient workers is based on their standard of output. So, because of this, there is a conflict between employees in an organization, increases the rate of absenteeism, and so on.
4. Unsuitable for small businesses:
In this limitations of scientific management, Scientific management theory is an unsuitable concept for any small businesses because it needs a larger amount of investments to develop the scientific methods of production.
So, that is the reason, small business does not follow the technique or approach of Taylor’s scientific management.
